Key Match Context

  • 🏏 Venue: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
  • 🇮🇳 India T20I record at Ahmedabad: 8 wins from last 10
  • 🔥 India tournament trend: Two 250+ totals already recorded
  • 🇳🇿 New Zealand semi-final: Chased 170 in just 12.5 overs
  • Finn Allen: Fastest century in T20 World Cup history (33 balls)

When this World cup kicked off just over a month ago I suggested that the @4/7 about India reaching the final was like finding money on the floor and I'm happy to say it's duly delivered …… however not without some drama ! Some wobbly group stage outings against the USA in the opener and that thrashing by South Africa posed many questions going into the England Semi. They quashed any doubt with their second 250+ score of the tournament and hit their biggest ever score in T20 Cricket. Coming here to Ahmedabad is a massive plus too, winning 8 from 10 in T20I cricket and we should see a high scoring first innings once again on Sunday. I think it would take a brave man to bet against Sanju Samson the man of the hour currently and with Hardik , Sky and Tilak Varma with runs in the bank it's a tough task for any attack.

India are priced up with BetWright at @4/11 is in no way overestimating what's more probable in this final but as we saw in the Semi final with New Zealand , the Black caps are a side not to forget about in crunch white ball comps. The Black Caps cantered to a nine-wicket victory over South Africa in the semi-finals, chasing down a target of 170 in just 12.5 overs, in no small part down to opener Finn Allen's astonishing 33-ball century. Allen hit ten fours and eight sixes en route to scoring the fastest ever hundred in T20 World Cup history ! So Once again an appealing odds against price may be tempting for punters @2/1.

India out the Traps - A theme

Why India Start Fast

  • India scored 86/1 in the powerplay vs Namibia – their highest ever T20 WC powerplay
  • Ishan Kishan smashed 42 runs in the powerplay vs Pakistan
  • India have consistently ranked among the top powerplay scoring sides in the tournament
  • Aggressive top order makes them strong for Highest First 6 Overs markets

India have been the standout powerplay side in this T20 World Cup. They smashed 86/1 in the first six overs vs Namibia, their highest ever powerplay score in T20 World Cup history.

Earlier in the tournament against Pakistan, Ishan Kishan scored 42 runs in the powerplay alone, highlighting India’s aggressive intent during the fielding restrictions.

With India repeatedly producing explosive starts and record powerplay totals in this tournament, they look the most likely side to win the highest first-six-overs market in the final @½ with BetWright. I'm not convinced the Cole McConchie trick will work as well as it did in the Semi against the SA.

Skipper SKY

Suryakumar Yadav – Tournament Stats

  • 📊 231 runs in 7 matches
  • 📈 Average: 38.5
  • Career T20I strike rate: ~163
  • 🎯 Key role if India lose early wickets
  • 🏏 Capable of dominating middle overs and accelerating late

Suryakumar is seeking to become the first Indian captain to lead his men to back to back T20 World cups and this one will be even sweeter given it's at home (Similar to the 2011 50 over WC).

He has been one of India’s most productive batters in this T20 World Cup, scoring 231 runs in 7 matches at 38.5 and sitting among India’s leading run-scorers in the tournament. With the top order starting to find rhythm on let's face it absolute roads in recent games the middle order have been left with finishing roles, I do think here if India lose a couple early Sky will step up and take that aggressor role on.

With a career T20I strike rate around 163 and average 37, his ability to dominate the middle overs and accelerate late makes him a strong contender to post India’s top score in the final @7/2.

Beware of Black Caps Part timers

Rachin Ravindra looks overpriced @11/2 with Betwright given his recent impact. He’s carried his all round form from a huge ICC event where he was Player of the Tournament in the 2025 Champions Trophy  scoring 263 runs in four matches and also taking three wickets In the final against India.

With New Zealand regularly using his left-arm spin in the middle overs – where batters attack – he’s already shown in recent high-pressure matches that he can chip in with crucial wickets, making the 11/2 look generous for a bowler capable of swinging momentum right now. The seamers have certainly not being carrying their weight in recent matches.
